Dancing The Dream
This is my first post. I just created this blog yesterday. I was having a slow day at work yesterday and was surfing the net looking for inspiration and thought, hey I should create a blog. This wasn't the first time I thought about it, but now I have actually done it. That's a huge step for me. I'm more of a thinker than a doer, and I definitely want to be more of a doer. I'm not exactly sure what my blog will be about - maybe about my endless search for inspiration. Maybe about the books I love to read. Maybe I'll post some of my attempts at poetry. Who knows. So, I should say right now that one of my main sources of inspiration this past year has been Michael Jackson. It's a strange story how this happened, so I'll write about it on another post. But let's just say that I haven't listened to anybody else's music for a full 12 months. Something about the man just inspires me. I knew very little about him before he died - I have never been one to follow the lives of celebrities. Of course I was familiar with his music and always liked it, but I knew nothing about how spiritual a person he was, and how he was a humanitarian. All the tabloid junk and the false allegations managed to keep these things about him hidden from the public. When he died I decided to stop listening to the media and did my own research about him. A great book to read is Conspiracy by Aphrodite Jones. Also very eye-opening is the GQ article, Was Michael Jackson Framed? (just Google it) and a recent article, One of the Most Shameful Episodes in Journalistic History by award-winning writer Charles Thomson: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/charles-thomson/one-of-the-most-shameful_b_610258.html. These are excellent reads, but it was listening to MJ in interviews and reading his lyrics that told me the truth about him. Oh, and reading his book Dancing The Dream - a collection of poems and reflections. I'll have to get some quotes from there for my next blog (I can't do that right now because I'm at work and don't have the book with me). Well, looks like I have some work to do now, so until the next post (of course, I have no idea who I'm speaking to; it's not like I have any followers or have any idea about how you get people to read your blog. Truth is, I'm not the most open of people so I'm not even sure I want people reading what I have to say. I know I definitely don't want anyone who knows me reading what I'm writing. I have always been a closed book. Search Amazon.com for dancing the dream michael jackson 2009
